Alejandra's A.P. World History Portfolio

Habit 2:Using documents and other primary data: developing the skills necessary to analyze point of view and context, and to understand and interpret information

Documents are very important here in A.P.  World history. Sometimes when we view a document  we don't  fully understand it. We need to know how to look at it, and get as much information as possile. Even less understand why they view certain stituations the way they do. As I said before, in the beginning of the year I wasn't that god at analyzing documents, but with the course of time I got better at it. One of the documents that helped me improve was "The Mongol Terror, Mongol Peace" documents. In the packet that we were given nine documents to view. To analyze those documents I used SOAPSTone. These documents showed me that everybody has a bias point of view. Also, that if they hold a special position of some kind that gives it even more of a bias.  For example, within this document packet, there was a document on Marco Polo. The document was from his travels.  We see that Marco is in favor of the Mongols. So then I used SOAPTone, and found out that it was because he was a merchant. SOAPTone helped me analyze that he, and all the merchant had a bias, because of the trade routes they helped spread, which of course bennifited the merchants. Of course to analyze history documents you have to know history. So we had to read, because it is the base for, pretty much anything, especially school.  If you read, use SOAPSTone, or AP PARTS, and make sure you analyze the documents good, you'll have a very well written essay.

Evidence

As I said before, the piece of evidence I decided to choose is "The Mongol Terror, Mongol Peace" document. I could not find the essay, but I do have the document in which you can see that I used SOAPSTone.
