Habit 1:Constructing and evaluating arguments: using evidence to make plausible arguments.
In order to support a piece of evidence, we must first learn how to do it. In the beginning of the year we began to look at documents, and we analyzed them by using S.O.A.P.S.Tone. S.O.A.P.S.Tone helped me analyze documents better by helping me search for as much information as possible. Later on we learned about AP PARTS. This new way of looking at information also helped look at documents better. Although, I liked using S.O.A.P.S.Tone more, because it consist of looking at the speaker, occasion, audience, purpose, subject, and of course the tone. These ways of analyzing helped me with the Document Based Question (DBQ). By looking at the documents, and using S.O.A.P.S.Tone we learned to develop arguments with the appropriate evidence to support the topic we are writing about. For example, the Haiti DBQ, we had to look at all the ten documents and identify bias, and to look for information to support the prompt. Identifying the bias was really hard for me, and at many points of the semester I forgot about the bias, but by the end of the year it becme easier. I guess all the practice worked out.
Evidence
For the evidence I chose the Hatian revolution essay. Although I got a two on this essay, I put it to see how I slowly improved on my DBQ.
